Infection prevention and control is the use of safe practices and ways of working that help to prevent or reduce infections in health and care settings. This module includes information on what infections are and how they are spread; as well as the standard infection control precautions (SICPs). It also covers transmission based precautions and the code of practice for all providers of health and care on the prevention of infections. Tier 2 is aimed at all staff working directly with or providing care to individuals; and/or those who work in a patient environment.
