About the CPD course
Children who witness the abuse of their mothers; fathers; or other family members; are impacted by the intimate terrorism. The course will give you understanding of the lasting psychological; emotional; physical and social effects of a childs exposure to domestic abuse. This training looks into the impact of developmental trauma and possible representations of trauma in children. By the end of the training; learners will be knowledgeable about the effective ways of supporting a child who witnessed or experienced abuse and they will be confident to develop your own practice when working with traumatised children.

Safer Places Professional Training and Development
Safer Places is a not-for-profit organisation working in Essex and Hertfordshire. We aim to ensure the safety, improve the quality of life and reduce repeat victimisation of adults and children fleeing from or living with domestic abuse, by providing a comprehensive service of support. This involves offering advice and information, safe refuge accommodation, community based floating support, a 24 hour support line, counselling, legal services, education and training (in life skills such as literacy, numeracy, language, hobbies and employment).
