CPD Courses

An Introduction to Learning Disability for Criminal Justice Staff

Seminar Keyring Living Support Networks

About the CPD course

People with learning disabilities are over-represented in the criminal justice system. This session is co-delivered by people with lived experience. It defines the term learning disability; considers probable causes for over-representation and looks at how people might both present and struggle; suggesting reasonable adjustments and quick wins. It goes on to look at the systemic differences between the social care and criminal justice sectors and discusses the need for professionals to work together; especially around release from a secure setting.
