Honour-Based Violence and Forced Marriage

About the CPD course
Honour based violence (HBV) is when a persons behaviour is controlled by their family or their community to protect what they perceive as their honour according to cultural beliefs. Forced marriage; a type of HBV;is when one or both people are forced into a non-consensual marriage. You may have a child brought into your care who has been at risk of or endured HBV. It is important therefore to be aware of the background of these issues and signs to look out for when a child is at risk and of the psychological impact afterwards.
