During the month of September we will be running Advice:Weekly; a new virtual training course; which will consist of four sessions covering key areas of the Advertising Codes. The course will guide you through the workings of the ASA & CAP and how the two work together to regulate ads in the UK. We will also take you through the fundamental rules around misleading advertising; promotional marketing and digital advertising to help you identify any problems with your ad campaigns before a complaint is made.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is the UK’s independent advertising regulator. The ASA makes sure ads across UK media stick to the advertising rules (the Advertising Codes). The Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) is the sister organisation of the ASA and is responsible for writing the Advertising Codes. The ASA and CAP are committed to regulating in a way that is transparent, proportionate, targeted, evidence-based, consistent and accountable.
