29 Sep 2021
About the event
This one hour session with Sue Bodman and Glen Franklin will help you to discover how to deliver effective guided reading for pupils in Early Years and Key Stage 1. This session will cover how to choose the right book at the right time for young readers based on focused assessments and how guided reading fits with current theoretical understanding of how children learn. Sue Bodman and Glen Franklin are Reading Recovery national leaders at the European Centre for Reading Recovery based at the Institute of Education; University of London.
Supporting schools and libraries for over 90 years, we publish and sell award-winning children’s books and education resources. We believe that independent reading is a critical part of children’s learning and growth. With support from teachers, parents and schools, children choose from Scholastic the books they want to read, and discover the pleasure and power of reading.
