Suicide Bereavement UK (SBUK) and Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust are collaborating to host the 10th international suicide bereavement conference entitled: Suicide Bereavement: Thinking out of the Box! Nine speakers will be presenting; and will include four workshops. This event focuses on science; lived-experience and practice. The arts (poetry; music and quilting) will be used to engage delegates. We will be presenting ground-breaking research; presented for the first time. We have international speakers from Australia and Germany. The following issues will be discussed: Implications of losing a mother to suicide; the needs of older adults bereaved by suicide; the pandemic and implications for those bereaved by suicide; guilt; blame moral injury; tattoos; safety planning; the importance of speaking out and innovative ways to engage with stigmatised groups.
Suicide Bereavement UK conducts suicide bereavement research, provides consultancy on postvention and develops and delivers evidence-based suicide bereavement training. The team have considerable experience working in this field and have a unique skill set, which enables them to be considered leaders in this newly developing field in the UK. We also hold an annual international suicide bereavement conference in Manchester every September, where over 350 attend from 8 different countries.
