About the event
Nearly two in five school pupils in England are being taught in buildings that have passed their intended design life and the government is spending less than half the money it says is needed to keep them safe; according to the National Audit Office (NAO). The NAO also warned around 700;000 pupils are learning in schools that the responsible body or the Department of Education (DfE) believes requires major rebuilding or refurbishment and that the DfE has no plan in place to achieve the 75% reduction in carbon emissions from public sector buildings the government has promised to achieve by 2037.
