This is an exceptional opportunity to learn from the master in a small group where audience participation will be encouraged. Not only is Tim O’Hare one of the most highly regarded authorities on soils in the industry; he is also a very engaging speaker. On this occasion he will be focusing specifically on those aspects of soil which are most relevant to the garden designer; including: essential soil properties and structure; sampling methods and important parameters to test for; how and where technical equipment; information and analysis services can be sourced. More than a lecture; Tim will be bringing soil samples for an identification challenge and there will be opportunity in the afternoon for some hands-on practice of using a soil sampling auger.
In 2012 we officially opened three gardens at our nursery to delight and inspire our visitors. Probably the only garden of its kind in the country, Planning for Planting has been designed to help visitors more easily visualise the logistical side of the tree buying process. The garden displays examples of different access conditions, staking system options, and irrigation and watering solutions. Add uplifting landscaping and a take-away planning guide, and 'the boring technical bit' becomes – quite literally -a walk in the park.
