We have been asking our members from across the industries the reasons why they became a CPD provider. This CPD Member case study was provided by Brimstone Site Investigation. For more information, please visit their CPD Member Directory page.

Please provide us with a brief overview of your organisation. What do you do?

The UK’s only government-assured unexploded ordnance (UXO) company, Brimstone provides UXO risk management services in the UK and overseas. With three offices across the UK and recruits from the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, we rapidly deploy explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) trained personnel to offer flexible support to projects in commercial, defence and humanitarian sectors. Our services include UXO risk assessments, surveys, on-site investigations, and disposals.

Why did you become a CPD provider?

Becoming an accredited CPD provider was a strategic decision for us at Brimstone, driven by several key motivations. Firstly, we sought to offer individuals taking our courses accredited CPD training which can enhance their CV and contribute to their official CPD records, something which is of vital importance in the construction, engineering, and environmental sectors. This not only reflects our commitment to supporting ongoing learning but also serves as a testament to the quality of our educational offerings. Furthermore, positioning ourselves as a CPD provider allows us to showcase our expertise as industry specialists. Achieving independent accreditation for our training course assures clients that our content is at the forefront of industry standards and provides added value.

How did you implement CPD accreditation in your organisation?

We applied for CPD accreditation for our online UXO awareness course, which teaches candidates about UXO risks, why UXO might be present on construction sites, and how to respond to a UXO incident. We proudly display the CPD logos and accreditation information in our marketing materials and on our website.

How has CPD helped your organisation achieve its learning objectives?

CPD has played an important role at Brimstone by ensuring the skills and knowledge of our team remain current and relevant. This is of vital importance in our field which focuses on life safety. Furthermore, our commitment to CPD helps position our company as specialists in our field and facilitates adaption to clients’ needs and expectations.
