About the CPD course

The Illuminated Ornamentation Course offers participants an in-depth exploration of the classical techniques and aesthetics of Islamic decorative art. Over 40 hours of guided instruction; students will learn to create intricate botanical; floral; and geometric patterns; inspired by historical manuscripts. Emphasizing traditional methods; the course covers tool preparation; gold leaf application; and advanced colour blending to achieve depth and harmony in designs. Participants will progress from mastering basic motifs to completing a final; complex ornamentation piece. By the course's conclusion; learners will possess the skills and understanding to produce stunning illuminated artworks reflective of Islamic artistic traditions.

School of Calligraphy and Ornamentation

The School of Calligraphy and Ornamentation is a new specialised art school in Fujairah, UAE under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Hamad Alsharqi. The school offers a number of workshops and various programs dedicated to the traditional arts of the book that include calligraphy, ornamentation, gilding, miniature painting and bookmaking crafts. These courses are open to adults interested in learning these artistic skills from anywhere in the world.
